Women's Lacrosse Defeats Truett McConnell at Home 22-5

MARIETTA, Ga. - The Life U women's lacrosse team earned its fifth victory of the season on Tuesday at Lupo Family Field with a 22-5 win over Truett McConnell University. 

Life U left no doubt in this one scoring nine in the first period and another six in the second to lead 15-3 at the break. 

In the first period, Alyssa Curto managed three goals and one assist and Olivia Andrews and Lexi Santiago added a pair in the first 15 minutes too. 

Nicole Ortiz also scored four goals making it her 15th goal of the season. Annslee Warchol tacked on three and Jazzlynn Hollerbach added two goals. 

The Bears continued to fight by adding two goals in the second half, but it was not enough to bring them to a win. 

TMU saw just seven shots total as Life U tallied 49 shots with 38 on goal. Leanne Windon recorded right draw controls to keep Life U on their side of the field for most of the game. 

Up next, the Running Eagles continue at home Friday March 1 at 6 p.m. taking on #5 University of the Cumberlands at Lupo Family Field. 

TURNING POINT:

--The Running Eagles were able to score nine goals in the opening period to distance themselves from the Bears.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:

--Leanne Windon led Life U with eight draw controls in the contest contributing four ground balls and four caused turnovers. 

--Alyssa Curto added five goals in the contest and one assist.

--Junior Lexi Santiago scored three goals and six draw controls. Santiago leads Life U with 17 goals on the season.
