THOMASVILLE, Ga. - In a game that was tied with less than five minutes to play, the Life U men's basketball team came away with a win at Thomas University 79-72.. The Running Eagles were able to close it out in the final minutes thanks to eight points by Srdjan Popovic.
Popovic made two three-pointers with under four minutes to go to put the Running Eagles out in front and added two from the free throw line to close out the contest.
The Life U defense held tough, denying the Night Hawks on their final six possessions. Life U left no opportunities in the finals two minutes as they went on a 9-0 run to end the contest.
At the break, Life U led by 15 with high hopes going into the second half.
In the second half, it became a tight contest with the Night Hawks making their gap smaller, eventually going on a 10-0 run which made Life U's chances smaller, but with the Life U push at the end they were able to secure the win.
Up next, Life U faces Loyola University New Orleans at home Saturday Feb 10 at 1 p.m.
STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
--Dara Olonade led the Running Eagles with 24 points going 10-for-13 from field goal range.
--Joshua Ward finished with a double-double delivering 19 points and ten rebounds.
--Will Freeman added 15 points and seven rebounds.
