MARIETTA, Ga. - The Life U women's lacrosse team dropped a tight contest to the Seahawks of Keiser University in OT Saturday. Life U fell behind trailing by three in the beginning of the fourth quarter before Nicole Ortiz scored three to push the game into overtime.
The Seahawks jumped out early scoring the first three goals before Annslee Warchol was able to put Life U on the board off of a free position shot. Alyssa Curto was able to add another goal in the first quarter, but quickly Keiser added another one in the back of the net leading 4-2 going into the next quarter.
Keiser was able to put three more goals up in the second quarter, but Life U was able to outscore them with goals from Curto, Peyton Sanders, and Lexi Santiago by only trailing 7-6 going into the break.
After halftime, Curto found herself in front of the goal again, putting up a quick goal with only 39 seconds into the third quarter. It was a slow quarter as Keiser was able to add two, but left Life U with no more goals going into the fourth quarter.
The fourth quarter continued to be a slow start for both teams until Keiser broke off a goal nine minutes into the final quarter. Though the game seemed finished, Ortiz was able to put three goals in the back of the net pushing the game into overtime.
After a short break, Lexi Santiago quickly found the ball off the draw control going straight to goal, but the Keiser goalie was able to make a huge save to keep the Seahawks in the game. Keiser was able to make the clear and take a shot, but goalkeeper Lilly Phillips made a stop, keeping Life U pushing forward.
After the first three minutes expired, Keiser was able to win off of a draw control violation and made the final goal to win the game 11-10.
Phillips was able to keep Life U in the game defensively making 14 saves.
Up next, Life U travels to face Ave Maria University Saturday April 6 at 10 a.m.
