MARIETTA, Ga. - The Life U women's lacrosse team rallied back from trailing 3-1 in the first quarter to overtake Benedictine 10-9 on Wednesday evening at Lupo Family Field.
The Running Eagles trailed 3-1 early, but two goals from Nicole Ortiz helped Life U take the lead and hold it the rest of the game.
It was a game of large momentum swings, as the Ravens led 3-1 after the end of the first quarter. Life U then dominated the second quarter, delivering six straight goals to lead 7-3 before Benedictine responded by scoring a goal bringing the game to a score of 7-4. Life U responded again by adding a goal by Lexi Santiago which was assisted by Ortiz.
In the third quarter Santiago put up an early goal and Benedictine responded 30 seconds later with a goal too bringing the score to 9-5. The rest of the third was slow until the end of the quarter when Annslee Warchol put one in the back of the net and was assisted by Peyton Sanders.
However, from that point forward, Benedictine took off by scoring four goals and leaving Life U scoreless. It was still not enough as a turnover was made by Benedictine with 22 seconds left and Life U was able to secure the 10-9 win.
