MARIETTA, Ga. - On senior day, the Life U men's volleyball team was able to make quick work of Truett McConnell University taking down the Bears in straight sets.
The Running Eagles raced out to an 18-9 lead after a 5-0 run and ran away with the first set 25-18. The second set saw the Bears keep pace for a time before Life U used a mid-set run to create enough space to secure the 25-20 set win.
In the third, the Bears rode momentum to a 17-12 start, but the Running Eagles did not back down.
Despite trailing, Life U was able to make it a battle down the stretch and pulled within two trailing 24-22, before Life U pushed for extra points taking the lead 25-24. It was a quick battle until kills from Diego Martinez and Jose Llaneza created two points to take away the 28-26 win.
Senior Diego Martinez tallied 12 kills while senior Jose Llanez added six aces. Carlos Pinto was key with 34 assists.
Up next, the Running Eagles will compete in their last game of the season at home against Cumberland University (Tenn.) this Wednesday at 6 p.m.
