The Running Eagles Holds Strong with 10 Men to Claim 1-1 Draw

Records: Life U, 2-0-1; SCAD 1-2-1

MARIETTA, Ga — The Life University men's soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw against The Bees from SCAD Saturday evening after coming from two big wins.

The Bees opened the game by scoring in the 18th minute, capping the opportunity with a finish of a corner. Not long after, in the 19th minute, the Running Eagles received a red card and were forced to play one man down for the remaining 75 minutes of the game. Seconds before halftime, Life U received a penalty kick in which Thomas Rodella safely put the ball in the left corner to go into halftime 1-1.

Going into the second half with one man down, the Running Eagles kept pushing pressure and creating chances but were not able to execute. The teams traded chances throughout the second 45 minutes but with no results. Both teams had eight shots each during the second half. As the time was running out, the game came to a close at a 1-1 draw.

Head Coach Alex Pama shared his thoughts on the performance, stating, "A hard-fought battle in which, for 75 minutes, we had to play a man down after receiving a deserved red card. I have to compliment the lads who played a man down. We barely gave anything away against a good side and still created good chances to win the match. We knew SCAD has a talented team this year, so we're glad we showed character in a moment of adversity. Now, we head on the road for the next four matches, an opportunity for the team to grow together even further."

Up next, Life University travels to Florida to take on Ave Maria on Tuesday, September 3rd at 6 PM.
