Life U Competes in South Florida Tri-Meet

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Life University men's and women's swim team competed in their first meet of 2025 at a double dual against Ave Maria and St. Thomas last Friday.

With two other teams in attendance, Pablo Serra Ventura started off with an early finish in first place in the Men's 1000 yard freestyle (10:18.66), taking victory by 5 seconds from a St. Thomas swimmer.

For the men's team, Bence Dort was able to add a second place in the 200 yard backstroke (1:59.84) and a third place in the 100 yard backstroke (54.65). Brody Williams took second place in the 200 yard freestyle (1:45.92) and a third place in the 100 yard freestyle (48.47). Another second place came from Rasmus Petersen, who finished with a time of 55.33 in the 100 yard butterfly, as well as a third place in the 200 yard butterfly (2:09.61). Bence Meresz added a second place in the 200 yard breaststroke (2:14.30).

Overall, the men reached the top three in eight out of 14 events. LaVaughn Veasey, Petersen, Meresz, and Williams snagged second place in the 200 yard freestyle relay (1:29.59).

For the women's team, Kyleigh Shonk was able to claim second in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:05.54), Terangimarie Moanaroa grabbed second place in the 50 yard freestyle (26.02), Elisa Gross took second place in the 100 yard butterfly (1:03.92), and Sophia Carneiro was able to get a third place in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:13.33).

Overall, the women reached the top three in four out of 14 events. Nikita Snoeren, Shonk, Moanaroa, and Gross took another third place in the 200 yard freestyle relay (1:47.00).  

Up next, the Running Eagles will be back in Marietta next Friday, January 17 at Mountainview Aquatics Center to take on Thomas University (Ga.).
