Life U Swim Competes in Emmanuel Sprint Meet

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – The Life University men's and women's swim teams traveled to Franklin Springs, Ga. to compete in the Emmanuel Sprint Meet on January 25.

The Running Eagle's men's swimming team won three out of 16 events and had ten top three finishes. Life U men's swimming won the 100 yard freestyle relay with Brody Williams, Pablo Serra Ventura, LaVaughn Veasey, and Jacob Copeland (42.38).

Serra Ventura had an impressive performance, finishing first in two other events, 200 yard backstroke (1:54.86) and 100 yard backstroke (54.11). Bence Merész showed his strength in the 50-yard breaststroke, clinching second place with a solid time of 27.38. Following closely behind, Matthew Duchon fought hard for third place, clocking in at 28.77. Merész came through with another second place finish in the 100 yard IM (53.85).

Bence Dort, Tyron Klynhans, Rasmus Petersen, and Merész managed to take home a third place finish in the 100 yard medley relay with a time of 46.65, missing second place by a razor-thin 0.01 seconds in an intense finish.

Williams placed third in both the 50 yard butterfly (23.85) and the 50 yard freestyle (22.07). Another third place finish was taken by Serra Ventura in the 50 yard backstroke (26.50).
 
Life U women's swimming team had seven top three finishes. The Running Eagles women's swim team came in second place in the 100 yard freestyle relay after Kendall Ashburn, Kyleigh Shonk, Seema Chavis, and Terangimarie Moanaroa secured the time 49.60.

Nikita Snoeren earned two second place finishes in the 50 yard butterfly (27.04) and the 50 yard backstroke (38.53), showing good effort in a competitive meet.

Ashburn didn't hold back this week either, as she claimed second place in both the 50 yard freestyle (25.09) and 100 yard freestyle (56.61). 

Sophia Carneiro took home another second place in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:13.60.

Additionally, Elisa Gross, Zara Kleinhans, Snoeren, and Carneiro placed third in the 100 yard medley relay (54.09), just under a second behind second place.

Up next, the Running Eagles travel to Ocala, Fla. to compete in the Sun Conference Championships in early February.
