Men's Wrestling has Solid Showing at Hawk Classic Open

MARIETTA, Ga. — The Life University men's wrestling team delivered a series of standout performances at the Hawk Classic Open last weekend, showcasing depth across weight classes.

Starting at 141 lbs, Kaden Ramos had an impressive run, finishing in second place. His journey included two wins by fall and a victory by medical forfeit, ultimately finishing as the runner-up in a default decision in the final match.

Jaden New, competing at 157 lbs, dominated his bracket to secure first place. He recorded two technical falls and a fall before claiming victory in the final with a major decision.

Gavin Balmeceda claimed the 165 lbs title. His path to victory included a tech fall, a rapid fall in just 21 seconds, and a pair of decision victories, including a narrow win in the finals.

Jon Peralta Ortiz had a solid performance at 165 lbs. His run was highlighted by a major decision and two falls before concluding with a sixth-place finish.

Steven Villalobos took the top spot at 174 lbs. His journey included dominant performances with tech falls and major decisions, culminating in a close 4-2 decision in the finals.

Gio Jackson also performed well at 174 lbs, finishing in fourth place. His highlights included major decision victories and strong showings in the consolation rounds.

At 184 lbs, Kendall Norfleet showcased his dominance, finishing first and scoring 22.5 team points. His run was marked by multiple technical falls, including a commanding 20-4 victory in the finals.

Tre Morrisette, competing at 197 lbs, earned a second-place finish. His bracket run included a fall, a tech fall, and a semifinal decision victory before falling in the finals.

In the heavyweight division, Nate Glass captured the 285 lbs title, scoring 23.5 team points. His path included falls and a tech fall, finishing with a medical forfeit victory in the finals. Earnest Johnson also excelled, taking third place, highlighted by a tech fall and major decision wins in the consolation rounds.

Zachary Bailey also added 5.5 team points at 285 lbs, recording falls in his initial and consolation matches before being eliminated.

Up next, the men's wrestling team will travel to compete at NWCA National Duals in Iowa this upcoming weekend.
