MARIETTA, Ga. — The Life University men's soccer team advanced in the SSAC tournament late Friday night with a win over the Toppers of Blue Mountain at home. The Running Eagles got big goals from Enrico Burigotto and Enrico Lazzari.

The Running Eagles wasted no time taking the lead, scoring the opening goal in the 12th minute of the contest. Playing it from the back line, Devin Koorn swung a ball towards the box, where Enrico Lazzari awaited. Lazzari headed the ball further into the 18, where Enrico Burigotto played a beautiful half volley to himself before finishing off the opening goal of the contest.

Pawel Wolny made an incredible save to keep the game level in the 25th minute. After seeing the ball bounce around his box and land at the foot of a BMCU jersey, Wolny made a diving, one-handed save to his left, stunning the entire crowd.

Life U dominated the entire first half, allowing a single shot on goal from the visitors. On the offensive end, the Running Eagles had plenty of good looks but were turned aside every time after the opening goal. Life U posted 11 shots in the half, with the goal scorer Burigotto having four on his own.

The second half featured physical play as both teams struggled for control. Life still retained the majority of the control, leading the shot count 3-1 heading into the later minutes of play. Enrico Lazzari doubled the lead in 69th minutes, making it 2-0. Chima Chukwu swung a brilliant ball towards the back post after making a great move at the opposite corner of the 18. Making his run, Lazzari headed home the insurance goal.

Though the last few minutes were chipy, Life U concluded the game with a 2-0 win.

"Great first play off game. The regular season championship game vs Dalton came at a high price as we lost several players for tonight's game," said Head Coach Alex Pama. "We have depth on the squad and tonight proved it. Great overall team performance and good solid win over an organized and much improved BMCU team. Now we have a couple days to prepare for the semi final match Thursday. Another tough match up, but we're used to it as almost every game in the SSAC is a battle."

Up next, Life U travels to Montgomery, Ala. for the next round of the SSAC tournament on Thursday, Nov. 6.
