Men's & Women's Swim Opens 2025-26 Season at Home

MARIETTA, Ga. – The Life University men's and women's swim teams opened the 2025-26 at home on Saturday afternoon, with the men's side taking down William Carey while the women's side bested both William Carey and Brenau. Mate Dort earned the first event win of the season for Life U, swimming a 9:48.73 in the men's 1000 yard free.

Raffaele Urtiola Rojas was the only Running Eagles on the men's side to win multiple individual events, earning wins in the 200 yard free (1:45.01) and 500 yard free (4:45.97). 

In the men's 100 yard backstroke, Bence Meresz claimed the event win with a time of 52.70.

Elisa Gross won the women's 100 yard fly, swimming a 1:01.17.

Terangimarie Moanaroa won the women's 50 yard free, recording a time of 25.67. On the men's side, Leo Guleryuez won the event with a time of 21.39. He also narrowly placed second in the 100 yard free (47.64), just .69 seconds behind first.

Zara Kleinhans raced to an event win in the women's 100 yard free, posting a 56.65. Kleinhans also narrowly placed second in women's 200 yard free (2:06.30) as her time was less than 1.5 seconds behind first. 

Petra Beky was the only Running Eagles to win multiple individual events on the women's side, winning the 200 yard breaststroke (2:29.10) and the 200 yard IM (2:18.00). 

Nikita Snoeren, Kendall Ashburn, Beky and Moanaroa opened the season with a second place finish in the women's 200 yard medley relay (1:54.38). Individually, Snoeren placed third in the women's 100 yard backstroke (1:04.36). In one of the closest races of the day, Beky placed second in the women's 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:09.57. Her time was just .38 seconds behind first. 

In the men's 200 yard medley relay, Xavier Trovesi, Rasmus Petersen, Guleryuez & Meresz placed second with a 1:36.71. Individually, Peterson placed third in the 100 yard fly with a time of 54.24. 

Trovesi placed third in the men's 100 yard breaststroke (59.07), second in the men's 200 yard breaststroke (2:11.69) and second in the men's 200 yard IM (1:59.16).


Malfrid Seteklev placed third in the women's 1000 yard free, finishing in 11:53.53. She also placed second in the women's 500 yard free (5:41.32).

Pablo Serra Ventura earned a second place finish in the 200 yard backstroke (1:59.12).

Capping off the meet, Meresz, Petersen, Rojas Urtiola and Guleryuez won the men's 200 yard free relay (1:27.34) while the team of Moanaroa, Ashburn, Seteklev and Snoeren placed second in the women's 200 yard free relay (1:45.78).
