11.16.25

DES MOINES, Iowa — The Life University men's wrestling team delivered a strong collective showing at the Grand View Open this weekend, producing four top-three finishers, a tournament champion, and bonus-point wins across nearly every weight class in a deep multi-division field. The Running Eagles displayed depth, grit, and early-season form as multiple athletes advanced deep into championship and consolation brackets.

Leading the charge was #2 Kendall Norfleet, who dominated the 184-lb bracket to claim Life U's lone individual title of the event. Norfleet opened with a fall, rolled into a tech fall and a major decision, and closed the day with back-to-back decision victories—including an 8–2 win over Nebraska–Kearney's Lazaro Crespo—to secure the championship.

At the same weight, #5 Tre Morrisette earned a podium finish of his own, placing third behind one of the tournament's most dominant offensive stat lines. Morrisette produced four tech falls on the day and capped his 5–1 performance with an 11–10 decision over Grand View's Lucas Hageman in the medal match.

At 174 lbs, Reese Jones put together a strong tournament run to finish third, going 6–1 with a major, multiple decision wins, a fall, and a dramatic double-overtime victory over teammate Konlin Weaver in the consolation semifinals. Jones secured his podium spot via forfeit in the third-place match.
Weaver added a fifth-place finish at the same weight, advancing to the semifinals behind three straight decision wins before finishing the day with a no-contest victory in the placement round.

Another top-three finisher came at 141 lbs, where Mauro Michel worked his way to third place behind two falls, a major decision, and a high-scoring 14–8 victory in the consolation semifinal. Michel closed out his day with a no-contest result in the third-place match.

The Running Eagles found further success in a competitive 149-lb field, where Elvis Solis placed fifth with two tech falls and a head-to-head win over teammate Dante Olivero, who himself posted a fall, a medical forfeit win, and a 4–2 decision to advance through the middle rounds.

At 157 lbs, Douglas Terry delivered a heavy workload en route to a fourth-place finish. Terry collected bonus-point wins via major decisions and a tech fall, adding two more victories—including a 7–1 decision in the consolation semifinal—before medically forfeiting the 3rd-place match.

At 133 lbs, Ethan Sellers reached the podium with a sixth-place finish, highlighted by a major decision, an 8–4 decision, and a second-period fall in the quarterfinals.
