MARIETTA, Ga. — The Life University women's basketball team fell at home Saturday afternoon, dropping a 70-51 non-conference contest to the visiting Eagles of Reinhardt inside the Eagles' Nest.
Life U opened the game with early momentum, jumping ahead by as many as nine in the first quarter behind strong finishes at the rim and active defensive pressure. The Running Eagles led 15-11 after the opening 10 minutes.
Reinhardt seized control in the second quarter, catching fire from the field and outscoring Life U 26-7 in the frame. Despite generating seven first-half steals and producing chances in transition, the Running Eagles entered halftime trailing 37-22.
Coming out of the break, Life U responded with its strongest offensive quarter of the day, putting up 21 points in the third behind attacking drives from Aniyah Offutt and interior work from Kenya Robinson. Reinhardt, however, maintained its double-digit cushion and carried a 55-43 lead into the fourth.
In the final period, the Running Eagles were only able to produce eight points as Reinhardt pulled away down the stretch to secure the 70-51 result.
Life U shot 33% and recorded 26 points in the paint and 10 fast-break points, while Reinhardt finished the afternoon shooting 55% from the field, and placing multiple scorers in double figures.
