KINGSPORT, Tenn. — The Life University men's basketball team dropped its third-straight contest on Sunday afternoon, falling to the Bears of Pikeville. The contest took place at the eleventh annual "The Show" NAIA Basketball Showcase in Kingsport, Tenn. 
 
The contest opened with both teams trading buckets for the first 12 minutes of game action. A jumper and free throw from Pikeville's Keynan Cutlip gave the Bears a 3-point lead at the 09:47 mark and that is when the first half started to take shape. The Running Eagles kept the fight, continuing to put points on the board after multiple baskets from Shane Stevensen, and two 3-pointers from Calvin Payton. Still, the Bears would take a 44-33 lead into the break. 
 
Out of the break, the Bears offense continued to pour it on as they opened the half on a 20-5 run to take a 64-38 lead into the under 12-minute media timeout. Out of the media timeout, a 3-pointer from Calvin Payton ended the run and started a period where both teams were scoreless for three minutes and ten seconds of game time.  
 
The last nine minutes of game time would pull in favor of the Bears as they would outscore the Running Eagles 15-10 to win the contest by a final of 79-51. 

TURNING POINT: 
--Pikeville opened the second half on a 20-5 run, leaving Life U trailing 64-38 with just over 12 minutes to play. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: 
--Life U shot 7-14 from the free throw line, while Pikeville shot 20-24.
