MARIETTA, Ga. — The Life University wrestling team showcased its depth and firepower Wednesday afternoon, defeating Reinhardt University 39–9 behind a dominant stretch through the middle and upper weights.
The Running Eagles claimed victories in eight of the 10 bouts, six of which came by bonus points, to control the dual from start to finish. Life U totaled three falls, three technical falls, and two decisions in a performance that steadily built momentum after the opening weights.
Life U struck first at 125 lbs as Mikey Doerr wasted little time setting the tone. Doerr converted an early takedown into near-fall points before securing the pin at 2:11 against William Bishop to put the Running Eagles on the board. Reinhardt answered with wins at 133 and 141 lbs, briefly narrowing the gap, but those would be the final victories of the day for the Eagles.
At 149 lbs, Dante Olivero halted Reinhardt's momentum with a controlled 7–2 decision over Maddox McArthur, using steady pressure and positional control throughout the bout. Fabian Padilla followed at 157 lbs, grinding out a 4–1 decision over Garrett Pace after scoring early and protecting the lead across all three periods.
The turning point of the dual came at 165 lbs, where Alexander Couto put on an offensive clinic. Couto piled up takedowns and near-fall points en route to a dominant 20–3 technical fall in just 2:41 over Hayden Santora, pushing Life U firmly in front.
Life University continued to roll at 174 lbs as Reese Jones needed just over two minutes to extend the lead, turning a takedown into back points before pinning Aidan Piatt at 2:07. At 184 lbs, Kendall Norfleet followed with another commanding performance, scoring early and often in a 16–1 technical fall over Jonathon Paramore.
The momentum carried into 197 lbs, where Gio Jackson methodically broke down Aaron Riner, stacking takedowns and escapes on his way to a 21–6 technical fall at 6:33. Heavyweight Gabriel Jacobs closed the afternoon in emphatic fashion, securing a fall at 5:26 against Caleb Pruitt to seal the 39–9 victory.
Head Coach Omi Acosta shared his thoughts on the team's performance going into the holiday break.
"First, we're blessed to have the opportunity to compete and we're extremely fortunate that we get to do what we love every day. I want to give my thanks to God, the man upstairs, for helping us get out of this dual healthy and be able to go home to our families and spend some quality time with them." Acosta continued, "National Duals is coming up in January, so we're go home for a break, but then we're back in Alabama at the Hawk Open and Duals, so we're always getting better. Thanks to everybody that follows and supports Life U Wrestling. Lucha."
