Women's Rugby Teams Showcase Impressive Skills in 7s Tournament

03.10.25

MARIETTA, Ga. -- The Life University Women's rugby season took a brief hiatus from the traditional 15s format last weekend, focusing their attention to the high-octane challenge of 7s rugby. On a day filled with compelling performances, both the Black and Green teams showcased their prowess in a mini-series against PSU, displaying remarkable teamwork and skill.

In this exciting peak into 7s, the Green team asserted dominance with a stunning 46-0 victory, setting the tone for the day. Not to be outdone, the Black team followed suit with a solid 28-0 win, underlining the depth of talent across both squads. As if to cement superiority, the Green team then went on to deliver an eye-popping 59-0 victory in their subsequent game, while the Black team maintained the unbeaten streak with a 38-0 triumph.

Assistant work and coordination were pivotal in these results, as both teams seamlessly transitioned from the 15s format to 7s. Despite the break from their usual competitive rhythm, each player adapted quickly, demonstrating exceptional rugby IQ and skill level.

Head Coach Ryszard Chadwick expressed his satisfaction with the outcomes, emphasizing the benefits of the break, "This was a nice break. It would have been nice to carry on our momentum with 15s, but it also gave us a good chance to get 7s reps in to see where we are when we have 7s tournaments in the future. Players worked hard for each other and skills and rugby IQ were impressive."

Overall, this mini tournament was not only an exhilarating change of pace but also a crucial learning opportunity for coaches and players alike. The insights gained will undoubtedly fortify the teams' strategies as they transition back to the 15s season. As the Running Eagles look forward to future 7s tournaments, it's clear that the teams are not only prepared but are setting a benchmark in performance and teamwork.
