Women's Track & Field Places Second at SSAC Meet

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Life University women's track and field team finished second at the 2025 SSAC Outdoor Championships. The Running Eagles turned in 195 points with nine Conference Championships and five runners-up. Due to weather, nearly the entire meet was conducted on Saturday.

Briana Campbell continued her dominance this season, winning the 200m dash with an A-Standard time of 23.23. Though she placed second, Campbell turned in a second automatic qualifying time of 13.23 in the 100m hurdles.

In the 400m dash, Najah Gibson claimed the conference title, turning in a B-Standard time of 56.10. 

Katelyn Mendoza led the sweep of the shot put with a best distance of 12.55m. Tara Koonce placed second with a distance of 12.00m while Diamond Atkins earned a third-place finish (11.93m). Atkins went on to win the discus toss with a best mark of 37.25m. Mendoza slotted into third place with a toss of 34.38m. 
 


Tara Koonce won the hammer throw with a B-Standard distance of 52.00m on her opening toss. Atkins earned a second-place finish with a 45.57m throw while Mendoza finished third (40.20m).

The wins continued to pour in as Emeline Delaville won the 800m with a time of 2:14.76. Delaville did not stop there, also winning the 1500m with a final time of 4:50.89.

The team of Emeline Delaville, Dagabjort Magnusdottir, Najah Gibson and Kyja Williams won the women's 4x800m with an A-Standard time of 9:10.67.
 

Cameron Kelperis won the pole vault at the meet with a height of 2.45m.

Laisha Hernandez earned an all-conference honor in the 400m hurdles, placing third (1:04.38).

The women's relay team turned in an A-Standard time in the 4x100m relay, running a time of 45.98 and placing second.

In the 4x400m, the Life U relay team posted a B-Standard time of 3:55.54 and placed second.
 
Up next, the Running Eagles prepare to return to the Emory Qualifier in one of the final chances to qualify for the 2025 Outdoor National Meet.
