CLEMSON, SC- The Life University Track and Field team continued its indoor season at the Bob Pollock Invitational hosted by Clemson University on Friday and Saturday. Junior runner Emeline Delaville shined once again as she became the best women's 800m runner in NAIA history. The Running Eagles head back to Marietta after notching four A standards and one B standard mark.
On the women's side, Delaville made history again but this time in the 800-meter dash. Finishing with a time of 2:06.29, Delaville earned herself another single-A standard, while on route to moving into first place all-time in the NAIA at this event. In the 400 meters, Shevaughn Thomas posted a time of 57.45, which gave her a single-B standard mark, while also moving into a top-20 spot in the NAIA. In the final event of the day, Delaville and Thomas teamed up with Najah Gibson and Kamarra Trisch to put together a top-10 finish in the 1600 meter relay. The women ran a time of 3:46.04 placing them first in NAIA and gave the Running Eagles another single-A standard.
The men's team also delivered solid performances, adding two single-A standards of its own. In the weight throw, Winston Sanders recorded a personal-best 18.87m (61-11) placing him fourth in the NAIA and giving him an automatic qualifier for the National competition. In the shot put, Darius Barge, who already has a single-A standard mark, added to his season's best with a mark of 17.07m (56'0").
Life U's men's distance medley relay team of Abedelemejid Kerebo, Justin Ducote, Arthur Drugeon and Josh Mckinlay placed fourth overall with a time of 10:24.50, competing well against a deep field. In the high jump event, Life U had two men finish in the top 10 against a good field of athletes. Juniors Keondre Glover and Braden Deal finished 9th and 10th respectively. Glover was able to clear 2.03m on his last try, while Deal was over 1.98m on the first try, before having fouled all three attempts at 2.03.
Overall, the meet showcased steady progress for the Life University Track & Field program, highlighted by multiple personal bests and strong efforts across sprints, distance, and field events. The team will look to build on these results as the season continues.
Up next, the Running Eagles will be competing at home in Life U Super Bowl Indoor/Outdoor home meet on Saturday, February 7th.
