MARIETTA, Ga. — The Life University women's volleyball team bounced back with a straight-set victory over Point University Monday evening at the Upper Gym, earning a 3-0 Southern States Athletic Conference win. The Running Eagles controlled the match from the start, taking the opening set 25-14 before closing out the second and third sets by convincing 25-16 and 25-21 scores.
The Running Eagles established control early in the opening set, using an aggressive attack and strong serving to build an advantage. The Running Eagles recorded 14 kills and hit .310 in the frame while adding four service aces to take the first set 25-14.
The Running Eagles carried that momentum into the second set, opening with an early lead and continuing to pressure the Skyhawks offensively. Life finished the set with 13 kills and a .273 hitting percentage while limiting Point to seven kills. The home side maintained its advantage down the stretch to claim a 25-16 victory and move within one set of the match.
Point put together its strongest offensive stretch in the third set, recording 11 kills, but Life answered to close out the match. The Running Eagles overcame a late Skyhawks push and reached match point at 24-20 before securing the 25-21 set victory. Life finished with 40 kills and a .227 hitting percentage while holding Point to 25 kills and a .074 mark.
Life finished with 40 kills, 36 assists, 50 digs, 10 service aces and seven total blocks. Point recorded 25 kills, 23 assists, 36 digs, four service aces and seven total blocks.
