Life University Rugby Battles Through Tough Conditions for Gritty Away Win Over Houston, 36-12

02.10.26

HOUSTON, Ga. -- The Life University rugby team faced a demanding away fixture against Houston on January 31, complete with a same-day flight and punishing wind conditions in the first half. Several players were navigating firsts, debuts, new positions, and full-game minutes, against a physically imposing Houston side with a strong forward pack.

Houston led 7-5 at halftime after Life struggled to exit effectively and break down their defense. The wind acted as a major equalizer, but the team stayed composed.

Head Coach Ryszard Chadwick reflected post-match: "Houston was a physical match. They were a strong group of forwards, and we struggled to break them down initially. The wind was a massive equalizer, and we couldn't exit. We stayed in the fight and at half time our message was simple: More of the same and trust the process. The wind at our backs there was only one outcome. I'm proud of the fight shown."

With the conditions shifting in their favor, Life dominated the second half, scoring heavily to claim a 36-12 victory. Standout scorers included Tinerudo Mawoyo (3 tries), Brooklyn Vaifanua and Sofia Fernandez (1 try each), a penalty try, and CeCe Rose adding key points.
