MARIETTA, Ga. — The Life University men's volleyball team battled through a four-set test Wednesday night, taking down NCAA DII Edward Waters 3–1 inside the Upper Gym in nonconference action.
The Running Eagles showed resilience throughout the match, responding to a second-set setback with strong finishes in the third and fourth to secure the win.
Life opened the match in a tightly contested first set, with both teams trading points deep into the frame. Edward Waters held a late edge, but the Running Eagles closed on a decisive run behind strong net play. A series of blocks from Jan Burhardt and Jakub Kantorowicz shifted momentum before Burhardt capped the set with a service ace to give Life a 25–22 win.
Edward Waters answered in the second, capitalizing on Life miscues to even the match. The Tigers used a mid-set surge to build separation while holding the Running Eagles to a negative hitting percentage in the frame. Despite a pair of kills from Burhardt, Life could not recover as Edward Waters claimed the set 25–15.
The third set saw Life regain control, using a more balanced offensive attack to create distance midway through. Serano Keijl and Kantorowicz helped fuel the run, while Vincent Eisinga made his presence felt at the net. The Running Eagles limited errors down the stretch and closed out the set 25–18 to take a 2–1 lead.
In the fourth, Life continued to apply pressure from the service line and at the net. Riley Chapman orchestrated the offense effectively, while Burhardt delivered in key moments to keep Edward Waters at bay. The Running Eagles pulled away late in the frame, sealing the match with a 25–19 set win.
