Women's Rugby Wraps Up Club D1 Regular Season with Huge 116-0 Win

Score: Life 116, Houston Sharks 0

MARIETTA, Ga. — The Life University women's rugby team saved its best performance for last on March 7th, closing out the final home match of the regular season with a dominant 116–0 shutout over the Houston Sharks.

The result marked a major step forward from the teams' first meeting earlier in the season, when Life earned a hard-fought 36–21 victory. In the rematch, the Running Eagles turned that 15-point win into a commanding performance, holding Houston scoreless while piling up 18 tries.

The Running Eagles controlled the match from start to finish, owning more than 90 percent of possession and spending the majority of the contest deep inside Houston territory. The Running Eagles moved the ball quickly through the rucks, carried with purpose, and made sharp decisions in attack while the defense prevented the Sharks from creating any sustained opportunities. Life also converted efficiently inside the 22, dominated set pieces, forced turnovers at key moments, and remained disciplined throughout.

Azhinaye Barner led the scoring effort with five tries, while CeCe Rose and Daniella Taulua each added two. Additional tries came from Lissa Salisbury, Bella Vogel, Sofia Fernandez, Hattie Greenwood, and Hallie Fewless as the Running Eagles spread the scoring across the lineup.

Director of Women's Rugby Ryszard Chadwick credited the team's intent following the match.

"We played fast and with intent. This was a statement that we needed to make and we did that," Chadwick said. "The scary part is that myself and the team didn't think we played well. We have another couple of levels to go and we felt that. We need to work on converting more chances despite the scoreline dominance."

With the win, Life completes its first USA Rugby Club D1 regular season with a perfect 6–0 record and maximum points in the standings. The Running Eagles now turn their attention to the Super Regionals in April, carrying momentum from a dominant finish to the regular season.
