MARIETTA, Ga. – The Life University women's lacrosse team fell to the #7 Warriors of Indiana Tech on Thursday morning. In a tough battle, it was the visitors who surged late and claimed the victory on Lupo Family Field.
Starting off hot as they have all season, the Life U offense wasted no time taking the lead off the opening draw control. Dodging to the middle of the crease, junior Tori Wolf put the Running Eagles up 1-0 early. The next two goals belonged to the Warriors as both squads prepared for a tough battle. Roxie Beasley leveled the contest midway through the first before a last-minute goal from Wolf gave Life U a 3-2 advantage heading into the second frame.
It took seven minutes of game action for the first goal to be scored in the second period as the visitors leveled the contest once more. However, Wolf answered again, completing her first-half hat trick and giving the Running Eagles a one-goal lead. Two late strikes from the visitors gave Indiana Tech a 5-4 lead heading into the break.
The scoring slowed out of half as both defenses played extremely well. The lone goal of the third period came from Jazzlynn Hollerbach, who leveled the contest again at 5-5. Heading into the fourth and final period, the team score line and stats for both squads were nearly identical.
In the fourth, the Warriors defense continued to lock down the Running Eagles offense. On the other side of the field, the visitor offense reclaimed the lead the 11:27 mark before adding two more goals midway through the period to take a 8-6 advantage. Beasley provided late life for Life U, bringing the contest within two with just over two minutes to play, but the goal marked the last score of the game.
