MARIETTA, Ga. - After a two-hour weather delay pushed kickoff back from its scheduled 5 p.m. start, the Life University women's soccer team returned to the field Friday night and delivered a dominant performance, defeating Mobile 3-0 at Lupo Family Field to open SSAC play.
The Running Eagles wasted little time finding the breakthrough. In the 12th minute, Victoria Valles served a corner kick into the box where Marey Helgadottir finished to give the Running Eagles a 1-0 lead. The goal stood as the lone score of the opening half despite Life generating 15 shots and earning nine corner kicks before the break.
The Running Eagles continued to apply pressure throughout the second half and eventually doubled their advantage in the 72nd minute. Djenna Zahoual found the back of the net to make it 2-0 and provide some breathing room for the home side.
