MOBILE, Ala. — The Life University women's volleyball team battled in SSAC action Saturday afternoon but fell in straight sets to Mobile, 3-0 (25-22, 26-24, 25-19).
Despite the sweep, the Running Eagles were competitive throughout the match, including a tightly contested second set that featured 12 ties and four lead changes before Mobile escaped with a 26-24 victory.
Mobile controlled much of the opening set, building an early 6-1 advantage and later extending its lead to 23-20. Life mounted a late rally behind kills from Medney Garraux and Kya Colston to close within 24-22, but the Rams secured the final point to take the set 25-22.
The Running Eagles responded with their strongest performance of the afternoon in the second frame. Life jumped out to a 6-2 lead and later used a 5-0 run to build a 20-17 advantage. After Mobile tied the score at 22-22 with back-to-back service aces, Life regained the lead at 23-22 and again forced a tie at 24-24 with a block from Paola Vega and Kya Colston. Mobile answered with the final two points of the set to claim a 26-24 win and take a 2-0 match lead.
Set three remained close through the midway point with the score tied at 18-18. Mobile then seized control with a 6-1 run to move in front 24-19. Medney Garraux recorded a kill to keep the match alive, but the Rams finished off the set 25-19 to complete the sweep.

Life finished with 44 kills, 40 assists, 54 digs, three service aces and four total blocks while hitting .197 as a team. Mobile recorded 42 kills, 55 digs, five service aces and seven total blocks while hitting .265.
