Kentaro Takada

Takada currently fills the role of an assistant coach for the Life University men’s soccer program. He helped lead the team to the 2019 Mid-South Conference Championship, the team making the first time undefeated conference run since the 1990s. 

On the field, Takada has had a long professional career, making the jump in 2006 with Thespa Kusatsu of the J2 League, initially competing on the U-23 team in 2006, before being promoted to the senior team in 2007.

After his time in Japan, Takada moved to the United States in 2009, playing one season with the expansion Rochester Thunder in the USL Premier Development League. Following that he signed with the NSC Minnesota Stars (current MLS Minnesota United FC) of the United States Soccer Federation Division 2 Professional League in 2010, and made his debut for the team on May 29, 2010. In January 2015, Takada signed with USL expansion side Saint Louis FC where he spent two years. Takada also played for the STL Ambush of the Major Arena Soccer League, before finishing his professional career with the Atlanta Silverbacks in 2017.
 
Throughout his soccer career, Takada has mixed time playing with a variety of coaching assignments.

During his time in Minnesota, he worked with the world renowned Coerver Coaching Method while also spending time with both Hill Murry HS and Como Park HS. While living in St. Louis, Takada worked with the well-known Scott Gallagher Soccer Club. Most recently (and locally), prior to joining the Tucker Youth Soccer Association, Takada had been working with Inter Atlanta FC, coaching their ‘07 Boys Elite team and their ‘05 Boys.

He started a new project in 2020, taking part of the Karen Men’s National team as Head coach, with the project's goal being to compete in the Confederation of Independent Football Association tournament.

Takada holds his USSF C license and lives in Decatur with his wife Mihoko, and his sons, Yohan and Kai.
