Steve Wilcosky enters his fifth season as the head coach of the Running Eagles volleyball program.
Wilcosky was named the 2016-17 Mid-South Conference Female Coaching for Significance Award recipient in June of 2017. The award is given out annually to the top female coach in the conference at the end of each year.
In 2016, Wilcosky guided his squad to a 20-12 (5-9 MSC) record with an appearance in the MSC Tournament semifinals in just the program second year in existence. Additionally, he helped Janaya Simmons to a First Team All-MSC honor and Sam Diebold to a Second Team All-MSC honor.
In the program’s inaugural season, Wilcosky led his team to a 17-14 (5-11 MSC) record and a seventh-place finish in the conference.
In addition to serving as the head coach of the Running Eagles, Wilcosky has also helped the North Atlanta Volleyball Club since 2014. With NAVC, he serves as a master coach, as well as the recruiting coordinator and the co-director of NAVC West.
Prior to arriving at Life U, Wilscoky spent eight seasons at the helm of the Nova Southeastern University volleyball program as the winningest coach in program history. Wilcosky holds an overall mark of 100-120.
While at NSU, Wilcosky was named the 2007 Sunshine State Conference Coach of the Year, as well as having his squad named a AVCA All-Academic Team in 2013.
In his time at NSU, Wilscosky lead the program to the 2008 NCAA DII Elite Eight, the 2008 NCAA DII South Regional Championship and three NCAA Tournament appearances. At its height, his squad was ranked 16 in the AVCA Poll. Wilcosky coached four AVCA All-Americans, an AVCA National Player of the Week, five AVCA South Region teams and nine All-SSC teams.
Before his stint at NSU, Wilcosky served an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at High Point University for a season. Prior to that, he was an assistant coach at Greensboro College for five years.
In addition to his college coaching experience, Wilcosky has spent 10 years working with the USA Volleyball High Performance, which is the developmental pipeline for the USA National teams. In his time with the organization, he served in several difference capacities including as the lead coach for multiple training teams and the Associate Head Coach for the Junior A1 program at the 2013 High Performance Championships.
In 2009, his Florida Region Junior National Team finished fourth at the High Performance Championhips. In 2008, his Youth National Team finished third, with his outside hitter earning Top Attacker of the tournament. In 2007, his Select National Team finished seventh, with his Libero earning Top Libero of the tournament.
Wilcosky earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Medicine from Guilford College.
Wilcosky and his wife, Stephanie, have two sons, Aedan and Conor, and a yellow lab named Jake.
