Life U Falls to Campbellsville 3-1

MARIETTA, Ga. – Life University (7-6, 2-2 MSC) fell 3-1 to Campbellsville (9-1-1, 3-0-1 MSC) on Saturday in front of a crowd of 375.

"This was a game of two halves," Head Coach Alex Pama said. "The first half was all Campbellsville, and we didn't recognize our own team. That was definitely not the Life team we are used to seeing. In the second half, we took the game to them. We deserved more and a better result. We've come a long way with our program, but in order for us to win a conference championship, we need to play without fear and go after our opponents for 90 minutes, not just 45."

Freshman Thierry Jules scored the lone goal for Life U on a header from sophomore Ricardo Lawrence. Both teams took 15 shots, but the Running Eagles took nine shots on goal compared to the Tigers eight. Freshman Daryoush Hosseini took the loss in the goal allowing three goals with five saves.

Out of the gate, Campbellsville pressed the action. This paid off as they scored the first goal of the match at 28'. They would push the lead to 2-0 a short two minutes later at 30'. They would take this lead into the half.

The Tigers continued to use their momentum at the start of the second period as they scored their third goal at 49'. However, the Running Eagles began to push back which led to Jules heading in the a goal at 68'. Life U continued to keep the pressure on, but couldn't capitalize on its scoring chances. Campbellsville took the win 3-1.

The Running Eagles are back in action on Oct. 17 as they welcome Lindsey Wilson.
