MARIETTA, Ga. – Life University (16-9, 4-5 MSC) fell to Cumberland (12-11, 3-6 MSC) with a 3-0 decision (19-25, 23-25, 21-25) on Saturday.

Both juniors
Liz Mann and
Chelsea Hill paced the squad with 13 kills apiece. Mann logged a double-double adding 10 digs and an ace, Hill added three digs, an ace and a block to her line.

As the match began, it looked as though Cumberland might roll as they opened on a 6-1 run. However, the Running Eagles cut the lead to 8-7 and eventually took their first at 14-13. The Phoenix answered back with force, as they closed the frame on a 9-2 run to take a 25-17 decision.

The second set was close early with both teams trading points. Life U took the first sizable lead at 10-7. CU chipped away and tied it at 11. The set was tight to the end from there with the Phoenix coming out on top with a 25-23 decision.

In the final set, once again both teams battle back and forth for large portion of the set. Life U eventually took a 16-13, and extended it out to 19-15. CU battled back and finished on a 7-1 run to take the set and the match 25-21.

The Running Eagles are back in action on Oct. 20 as they welcome Georgetown.
