MARIETTA, Ga. – Life University (4-11, 1-6 MSC) fell 2-5 to No. 16 Cumberland (11-3-1, 7-0 MSC) in the regular season finale on Wednesday.

"Tonight, we faced the No. 16 team in the nation, and there was never a moment where we felt out of the game," Head Coach
Sam Clark said. "We kept pushing for goals, creating opportunities and stayed pretty well organized throughout the game. I'm really impressed and pleased with the progress our team has made these last couple of games. We are really excited headed into the conference tournament."

Kimberly Santos scored a goal apiece for the Running Eagles in the loss. Life U was outshot 24-4, with 12 shots on goal compared to just two. Freshman
Pien van Kampen suffered the loss in the goal allowing four goals with four saves.

The game began as a defensive back-and-forth, with both teams feeling each other out. Cumberland got on the board first with a goal at 23'. They would extend their lead to 2-0 in the waning moments of the period at 41'.

The second half saw the Phoenix continue their momentum as they found the back of the net again at 50'. The Running Eagles got on the board as Santos logged her first career goal on a shot from
Andrea Garcia to cut the lead to 1-3Â at 58'. CU pushed the lead out to 4-1 a short while later at 64'.
Josie Davis pulled the lead to 2-4 at 79' on a pass from
Klaudia Cancino. The Phoenix scored their final goal a few moments later to seal the 5-2 victory.

Life U will now wait for the conclusion of this week's Mid-South Conference games to find out their seed of the conference tournament in Bowling Green, Ky. on Nov. 2.
