Life U Takes Care of Shawnee State 5-0

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio – Life University (7-4, 2-0 MSC) went on the road and got a 5-0 victory over Shawnee State (2-11, 0-2 MSC) on Wednesday.

"This was a great win for our program tonight," Head Coach Alex Pama said. "I thought the boys, at times, played really good. They are starting to understand more and more on how we want to play and what it takes to play mature good football. Another tough one Friday, so recovery is key now and hopefully we can keep this mini streak in conference going."

The Running Eagles outshot the Bears 26 to 14, with 12 shots on goal compared to six. Freshman Marek Beno paced the squad with two goals, while freshman Thierry Jules and sophomores Ricardo Lawrence and Wessley Soronellas all contribute a goal apiece. Freshman Daryoush Hosseini earned the win, his first clean sheet, with five saves, including two blocked penalty kicks.

The first started slow, with both feeling each other out in the early minutes of the match. However, Soronellas found the back of the net on a pass from sophomore Bastian Buechler at 20' for the first goal of the night. Jules would add another goal late in the half at 41' to give Life U a 2-0 goal at the intermission.

The second half was all Running Eagles as they scored three goals. Lawrence got things started with a goal at 66' on a pass from Soronellas. Beno would put the final nails in the coffin in the waning minutes of the match with two quick goals, the first on a pass from senior Rosendo Sierra-Flores at 88' and the other on a pass from junior Marcus Velasquez at 89'. Life U came away with a 5-0 victory.

The Running Eagles are back in action as they travel to Williamsburg, Ky. on Oct. 6 to face off against the University of the Cumberlands.
