Running Eagles Drop Tight Match to Cumberlands 1-0

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – Life University (4-7, 1-2 MSC) fell to Cumberlands (6-3-3, 2-1 MSC) 1-0 in a tight match on Friday.

"This was an extremely tight battle between two good teams," Head Coach Alex Pama said. "We couldn't do much about the goal against us, and had plenty of chances to score ourselves. I'm happy with the boys' fighting spirit, and the way they are playing in these conferences games. We now have two huge games coming up at home against two strong conference opponents. We will use this week to prepare and heal a bit, because these games took a toll on our players."

The Running Eagles were outshot 13-11, but had five shots on goal compared to UC's three. Freshman Daryoush Hosseini suffered the loss in the goal allowing the one goal with two saves.

The first half set the tone for this matchup, with it devolving into a defensive struggle for both sides. In the first half, the Patriots got off seven shots compared to Life U's four. At the half, both teams set square at 0-0.

The second period looked to be more of the same in the outset. However, UC broke through with their lone goal at 60'. Both teams continued to battle for the remainder of the match, but Life U was never quite able to find the equalizing goal.

The Running Eagles are back in action on Oct. 14 as they return home to take on Campbellsville.
