MARIETTA, Ga. – Life University (15-7, 3-3 MSC) downed Pikeville (5-14, 0-6 MSC) with a 3-1 decision (25-16, 25-16, 19-25, 25-19) on Friday.

Liz Mann paced the squad with a double-double of 14 kills and 11 digs, including two aces, a block and an assist. Junior
Zykeria Allen contributed 10 kills, six digs, four aces, two blocks and an assist. Junior
Miriam Goodfriend logged 25 assists, as well as a kill, an ace and a block.

The match started with both teams keeping it close early. Life U managed to gain an advantage at 10-6. Thanks to several runs, the Running Eagles were able to take the set 25-16.

The second set began much like the first with both teams trading points early. Once again, though, Life U took the lead 12-8. From there, they strung together runs to take the second set with a 25-16 decision.

As the third set began, it looked as though a trend was forming with both teams keeping the score tight early in the set. However, the Bears gained the advantage this time taking an 11-9 lead. UPike would use runs this time to claim the set 25-19.

The fourth set was probably the most tightly contested frame of the match. Both teams kept it close for with neither gaining a substantial advantage for the majority of the set. Life U finally went on a 5-0 run to take a 21-15 lead, and eventually took the set and the match 25-19.

The Running Eagles are back in action tomorrow as they host Shawnee State.
