MARIETTA, Ga. – Life University (16-7, 4-3 MSC) took down Shawnee State (6-13, 1-6 MSC) with a 3-1 decision (25-13, 11-25, 25-23, 25-18) on Saturday. Life U now has won eight-straight matches at home.

Junior
Liz Mann paced the squad with a double-double consisting of 15 kills and 13 digs, as well as three aces. Sophomore
Jamese Scott contributed 11 kills, four blocks and two digs. Junior Gaby Ferrán posted 28 digs, an assist and an ace. Junior
Miriam Goodfriend logged 24 assists, six digs, two kills, an ace and a block.

The Running Eagles looked primed to roll as they opened the match on a 8-2 run. Thanks to several runs, Life U took the first set 25-13.

Whatever momentum the Running Eagles had evaporated in the second set as the Bears opened on a 6-2 run of their own. SSU ran the lead out to 18-7 at its height, and eventually took the frame with a 25-11 decision.

The third set was by far the most contentious as they neither team could gain a sizeable lead for much of the set. Life U finally managed to gain some distance at 22-20, and eventually took the set 25-23.

The fourth set looked like it might be as tight as the previous set early in the frame. However, the Running Eagles were able to break out on a 9-2 run to take a 13-6 lead. They rode the momentum of that run to 24-12 lead. Shawnee State would not go down without a fight though as they rolled off a 6-0 run to cut the lead to 24-18. Life U would claim the set and the match on the next point with a 25-18 decision.
