MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Life University volleyball (2-1) swept Tennessee Wesleyan (0-3) in three hard fought sets (29-27, 25-23, 25-16 on Saturday at the Faulkner Invitational.

Junior
Liz Mann led the squad with her first double-double of the season with 17 kills and 10 digs. Sophomore
Deandra King contributed seven kills and five blocks. Junior
Mary Alvis added 11 digs and two aces.

The first set began tightly contested as both teams trade points early in the set. The rest of the set both teams had their share of runs, with 20 ties and 14 lead changes. The Running Eagles eventually captured the set 29-27.

The second set played out much like the opening frame with 11 ties. However, TWU held the advantage early in the set, until Life U took its first lead of the frame at 16-15. From there, the Running Eagles did not relinquish the lead and claimed the set 25-23. Â

Coming out of the break, Life U fell behind 6-1 early, but proceed to go on a 10-0 run, taking the lead 11-6. The Running Eagles never looked back and cruised to a 25-16 decision and a three-set sweep.

Life U is back in action this afternoon as they take on Freed-Hardeman in the final match of the Faulkner Invitational.
