MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. – Sophomore
Wessley Soronellas and freshman
Thierry Jules led the Life University (1-1) to the team's first road win with a 3-1 decision over Milligan on Friday.
Â
Head Coach
Alex Pama was pleased with the performance of his squad in their first road outing of the season.
Â
"It was nice to go on the road and get a win, and a much-deserved win at that," Pama said. "We are very proud of our guys. We are a little unlucky today, with hitting the bar several times on shots, but we created a lot of great chances for ourselves. It's nice to get back on track after the result earlier this week."
Â
A native of Canton, Ga., Soronellas paced the squad with two goals on the night. Jules, the Duluth, Ga. product, contributed a goal as well in the victory. Junior goalkeeper
Joe Davis picked up his first win of the season, only allowing one goal with four saves.
Â
The Running Eagles also outshot Milligan 25-15, with 12 shots on goal compared to seven.
Â
The opening half was a defensive melee for almost the entire length of the period, until Soronellas found the back of the net at 43' on an assist from sophomore
Andrew Killeen, giving Life U a 1-0 lead at the half.
Â
The Running Eagles kept riding the momentum into the final period with Soronellas scoring again on a pass from sophomore
Sergio Sereeira just one minute into the half at 46'. Milligan pulled within one with their only goal at 72'. However, Jules would put the game away with a goal at 83'on a pass from freshman
Manny Espinosa, giving the squad a 3-1 win.
Â
Life U will return home this Wednesday, Aug. 30 as the welcome Montreat to Lupo Family Field.
