MARIETTA, Ga. – Life University (4-5, 1-0 MSC) rolled to a 6-1 victory over Pikeville (0-9, 0-1 MSC) in front of a crowd of 275 to open the Mid-South Conference slate.

"This was a great way to open up conference play," Head Coach
Sam Clark said. "We have a few things that we still need to work on, but overall I was very pleased with our performance today."

Josie Davis set a new school record with four goals, as well as an assist, in the win. Freshman
Isabel Solorzano-Sierra and sophomore
Klaudia Cancino each contributed a goal. Freshman
Julia Bernhardt was credited with the win in the goal, with a shutout in the first half and three saves. The Running Eagles outshot the Bears 28-9, with 18 shots on goal compared to five.

The first was a defensive feeling out for both team. However, Davis got things started with the match's first goal at 25'. This 1-0 lead held going into the half.

The second half was much of an offensive showcase, with both teams combining to score five goals. Solorzano-Sierra got things started very early drlling a ball into the back of the net at 49'. Davis would then score back-to-back goals within three minutes of each other at 50' and 53'. UPike got its lone goal at 81'. However, this was quickly answered as both Cancino and Davis scored in quick succession at 82' and 83', respectively, thus leading Life U to the 6-1 rout.

The Running Eagles are back in action on Wednesday as they travel to Portsmouth, Ohio to take on Shawnee State.
