LEBANON, Tenn. – Life University (14-6, 2-2 MSC) snapped a four-game losing streak with a five-set win (13-25, 25-23, 24-26, 25-16, 17-15) over Cumberland (11-8, 2-3 MSC) on Friday.

Four Running Eagles posted double digit kills in the win. Both juniors
Liz Mann and
Zykeria Allen logged double-doubles. Mann finished with 14 kills, 13 digs, three aces and two blocks. Allen logged 10 kills, 10 digs, three blocks, an assist and an ace. Sophomore
Deandra King logged 13 kills and junior
Chelsea Hill contributed 11 kills.

Life U seemed to stumble to start the match, as the Phoenix opened on a 7-1 run. Thanks to several other runs, Cumberland took the set 25-13.

The second set looked to be more of the same with CU taking a 8-3 lead early. However, the Running Eagles battled back and took the set 25-23.

The third set was probably the most tightly contest frame so far. Both teams traded points back and forth the entire set. Once again, the Phoenix took the set by a slim margin of 26-24.

The Running Eagles finally began to gain their footing in the fourth, though the frame began very close. Thanks to a couple of sizable point runs, Life U forced a fifth set with a 25-16 decsion.

It looked as if Cumberland would easily take the fifth set, as they opened on a 5-2 run. However, Life U managed to battle back and took the set and the match 17-15.

The Running Eagles are back in action tomorrow as they travel to Columbia, Ky. to face off against Lindsey Wilson.
