MARIETTA, Ga. – Life University men's soccer (2-2) fell just short against No. 2 William Carey (4-0) 4-3 on Tuesday.

While his squad came up on the short end of the result, Head Coach
Alex Pama was proud of his team's effort.

"I am very happy with how the boys played one of the top teams in the country, and played them straight up," said Pama. "This game could have gone either way, and our boys showed character to the end. We are a young team, but it's great to see their progression early on during this season."

Once again sophomore
Wessley Soronellas and freshman Theirry Jules, along with junior
Jacob Bivens, contributed a goal apiece. Sophomore
Shingirai Chabika added an assist. Unfortunately, junior
Joe Davis suffered his second loss of the season in the goal.

The Crusaders outshot the Running Eagles 21-16 with 13 shots on goal to 12.

The match began with a defensive stalemate. However, Soronellas cracked the seal as he found the back of the net at 12'. WCU scored the equalizer at 37' to set the score tied going into the half.

The final period got off to a quick start as with in the span of eight minutes William Carey opened up a 4-1 lead, with goal at 52', 56' and 58'. Staring down a seemingly insurmountable deficit, the Running Eagles did not quit and kept battling. At 65', Bivens cut into the lead with a goal to cut the lead to 4-2. Eleven minutes later Thierry, who missed a penalty kick in the first half, found the back of the net at 77' to pull within one at 4-3. However, the Crusaders turned up the defense in the final minutes of the match to come away with the victory.

Life U will be back in action on Thursday as they travel to Waleska, Ga. to face off against Reinhardt University.
