Running Eagles Take Down No. 15 Campbellsville In Rout

MARIETTA, Ga. – After shocking No. 1 Georgetown on Thursday, Life University (13-5, 2-1 MSC) did it again on Saturday afternoon as they knocked off No. 15 Campbellsville (15-4, 0-3 MSC) in an 82-64 rout.

"I said after Thursday's game that we needed to show some consistency with our level of competitiveness on the defensive end," Head Coach Keith Adkins. "Well, today I think we took another step in that direction. If we can continue to play that way on the defensive end, we have a chance to be pretty good. But, that is a big if. In this league, you have to compete defensively to have a chance. We'll continue to see if we can make this a consistent effort."

Three Running Eagles powered the Life U offense in the blowout, with two players over 20 points. Senior Michael Miller paced the squad with a career high 22 points as well as six rebounds, three steals and two assists. Junior David Scott posted 21 points in addition to six rebounds and two assists. Senior Undra Mitchem contributed 17 points, six rebounds, three steals and two assists.

After a tightly contested, opening four minutes that saw five lead changes and three ties, Life U never trailed again. The Running Eagles came out of that exchange with a 13-12 lead and proceeded to take a double-digit lead at 28-17 just over halfway through the half. They eventually took a 45-27 lead into the break.

In the second half, Life U continued to roll, and took a 21-point lead to start the final 20 minutes. Campbellsville cut the Running Eagles' lead to less than 20 multiple times in the half, but failed to get within 15 points of the lead for the rest of the game. Life U took its largest lead of 27 points at 66-39. They closed out the game with an 82-64 victory.

The Running Eagles will begin a four-game road trip on Thurs., Jan. 18 in Columbia, Ky. as they look to continue to slay giants against No. 8 Lindsey Wilson.
