MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The Life University women's volleyball team fell in five sets to the University of the Cumberlands in Mid-South Conference play Saturday night.
NOTES
• Life U fell to 7-16 (1-4) on the year, while Cumberlands improved to 12-7 (2-3).
• Before the match,
Gaby Ferran was recognized for surpassing 1,250 career digs and currently stands with 1,287. She is the career leader for the program in this category.
• In the second set,
Liz Mann surpassed 1,000 career kills to put her as the career leader for the program as well. She currently ranks 27
thin the NAIA with 258 kills on the year and is third within the Mid-South for total kills and kills per set at 3.4.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Mann earned her seventh double-double of the year with 16 kills and 12 digs. She added two service aces with a block assist.
•
Gaby Ferran also picked up a double-double with 15 kills and 14 digs as
Chelsea Hill earned a double-double as well with 16 kills and 16 digs. She added five block assists.
•
Marin Black tallied 20 digs in the match with four service aces and ranks 33
rdin the NAIA with 32 on the year. Within the Mid-South, she is ranked second in service aces, sixth in digs per set and third in total digs.

Amber Harris added 29 assists as
Taylor Parrish finished with 28. Defensively,
Mary Zimmerman picked up four block assists as
Olivia Thompson finished with three.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• The first set was tied 6-6 early on, as Cumberlands used an 8-1 run to lead 14-7. Cumberlands extended its lead to eight, 19-11, before a 4-0 run from Life U cut the lead to four. A short 3-0 run near the end of the set wasn't enough for Life U as Cumberlands took the first set 25-21.
• Life U led early in set two 13-7 after back-to-back kills from Hill. Life U extended its lead to seven, 16-9, however the Patriots responded with a 9-3 run to cut the lead to one.
• The Running Eagles led 21-18 late in set two, however the Patriots tied the match at 22 after a service error. Ferran gave Life U the lead 23-22, however Cumberlands finished the set on a 3-0 run to take set two.
• Life U led 4-3 early in set three, and went on a 10-1 run to lead 14-4 after a block from Thompson and Harris. Life U continued to hold the advantage with an ace from Black to lead 19-12. A quick 4-0 run from the Patriots brought the set to within four, 22-18, however Mann recorded the final kill to give the Running Eagles the 25-20 win.
• Life U trailed early in the fourth set 2-1, however the Patriots would not regain the lead. The Running Eagles led 23-9 after a kill from Ferran and forced the fifth set with a 25-11 victory in set four.
• For the seventh time this season, Life U went to the fifth set. Back-to-back services from Alvis gave the Running Eagles an 8-5 lead in the middle of the set. Life U led 13-9 after an ace from Black, however Cumberlands finished the match on a 6-0 run to win the fifth set 15-13.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Life U led Cumberlands in kills 61-44. Life U finished with a hitting percentage of .193 as Cumberlands finished with a .148.
• Life U committed 30 errors to the 22 from Cumberlands.
• Life U held an 8-6 advantage in blocks and a 76-61 margin in digs over Cumberlands.
