MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The Life University men's soccer team earned a convincing 5-0 Mid-South Conference win at home over Shawnee State Friday night on Senior Night.
NOTES
• Life U improved to 6-9-1 (2-3) on the year, while Shawnee State fell to 7-9 (0-5).
• Seniors
Jacob Bivens,
Joe Davis,
Rosendo Sierra-Flores and
Marcus Velazquez were honored at halftime for their time spent on campus and with the program.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
•
Thierry Jules led the way offensively for the Running Eagles with 10 total shots, four on frame and two goals.
•
Javi Romero added six shots with a goal and an assist as Velazquez scored and added an assist as well.
Henry Hernandez was the other Running Eagle to score.
• Davis and
Fabian Pekruhl picked up the combined shutout as both keepers played a full half.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Life U took an early 1-0 lead in the 11
thminute as Jules headed the ball into the net off the Romero corner.
• Despite dominating the shot count in the first half, Life U went into the half ahead 1-0.
• Two minutes into the second half, Jules added his second goal of the match with the assist from Velazquez.
• Hernandez put Life U ahead 3-0 in the 50
thminute of the match as the Life U offense couldn't be slowed.
• Velazquez converted on his penalty to give Life U a 4-0 lead as Romero added the final Running Eagle goal from what seemed an impossible angle in the 63
rdminute.
• The Life U defense allowed just one shot in the second half to earn the 5-0 victory over Shawnee State.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Life U outshot Shawnee State 35-3 during the match. The Running Eagles held the advantage in shots on frame over the Bears 15-1.
