MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The Life University women's soccer team earned its first Mid-South Conference victory this season with a 2-0 decision over Shawnee State at home Friday night.
NOTES
• Life U improved to 5-9 (1-4-) on the year, while Shawnee State fell to 5-8-2 (2-3).
•
Callie Lambert again bolstered the Running Eagle offense with both goals, as she has scored four in the last two matches.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Lambert led the team with eight total shots and finished with four on frame.
•
Katelynn Harbeke earned an assist with four shots, and all of which were on frame.
Elisabeth Andersag also added four shots with two on frame.
•
Sydney Young played all 90 minutes in goal to earn the shutout victory and tallied eight saves.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Life U fired off six shots before Shawnee State had its first of the match in the 22
ndminute that was saved by Young.
• Neithing team had many chances in the final 15 minutes of the first half, as the score was locked at zero.
• Life U launched ten more shots before the Running Eagles found the back of the net in the 70
thminute of the match. A corner from Harbeke found the head of Lambert for a 1-0 Running Eagle lead.
• Lambert added her second goal for Life U in the 75
thminute to put the Running Eagles ahead 2-0.
• The Life U defense only allowed three shots from Shawnee State in the final 15 minutes as the Running Eagles earned their first Mid-South victory 2-0 over the Bears.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Life U outshot Shawnee State 23-13 during the match. The Running Eagles held the advantage in shots on frame over the Bears 16-9.
• Both teams finished with seven corner kicks.
• Life U outshot Shawnee State 14-6 in the second half.
