MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The Life University women's basketball team earned a dominating 85-51 victory over NCAA Division III Agnes Scott on Saturday night.
NOTES
• Life U improved to 5-2 on the year, while Agnes Scott fell to 0-4.
•
Maeisha Teasley nearly picked up a double-double as she tallied 13 points with a career-high eight steals. The team picked up a program-high 28 steals in the game.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
•
Shikiya Brown led the Running Eagles offensively with 17 points on five rebounds, four steals and four assists. She finished 6-for-10 from the field and a perfect 4-for-4 from the charity stripe.
•
Kiana Glenn also finished in double figures with 12 points on four rebounds and an assist. She was 5-for-10 from the field and added two from behind the arc.
•
Tshlene Bentley picked up a game-high 12 rebounds.
Kiara Glenn added five steals and eight points as
Damiya Montgomery and
Sydney Garnigan each picked up three steals.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Life U never trailed in the game, as Montgomery picked up the steal and the fast break layup at the halfway mark in the first quarter to extend the Running Eagles lead to 21-1.
• Garnigan added the final points of the quarter for Life U as they finished the first quarter ahead 26-11.
• A three from Tullis put Life U ahead by 20, 34-14, with eight minutes remaining in the second quarter.
• Teasley picked up the steal and the fast break layup a minute before the half as the Running Eagles went into the break ahead 43-19 over Agnes Scott.
• Klenn hit a short jumper for Life U with 1:21 left in the third quarter to put Life U ahead by 30, 61-31. The Running Eagles finished the third quarter ahead 63-35.
• Life U finished the game outscoring Agnes Scott 22-16 in the fourth quarter to earn the 85-51 win at home.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Life U finished 34-for-76 from the field, 44.7%, while Agnes Scott shot 19-for-51, 37.3%.
• Life U held the advantage in the turnover margin over Agnes Scott 35-14, and converted 33 points off of the turnovers.
• Life U shot 9-for-15, 60.0%, from the free-throw line as Agnes Scott finished 6-for-14, 42.9%.
• Life U led Brewton-Parker in bench points 44-9.
