MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The Life University women's volleyball team ended the 2018 regular season with a three-set sweep over Shawnee State University at home Saturday afternoon.
NOTES
• Life U improved to 11-21 (5-9) on the year, while Shawnee State fell to 13-19 (3-11).
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Mann led the Running Eagles offensively with 15 kills and two service aces.
•
Mary Zimmerman finished in double digits as well with 10 kills, three solo blocks and one block assist.
•
Mary Alvis totaled 21 digs as
Amber Harris picked up 36 assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Neither team held a significant lead early in set one, however a 9-2 Life U run gave the Running Eagles a 16-10 lead. Life U maintained at least a five point lead the remainder of the set as Mann provided the final kill for a 25-20 set one win.
• Shawnee State began set two with a 6-0 run, and the Bears eventually led 8-3. A pair of attack errors from Shawnee State tied the match at 11 as Life U used a 7-2 run to lead 18-14. Shawnee State used a late 3-0 run to lead 21-20 late in set two, however A 5-0 run from Life U was finished with a kill from Zimmerman to put the Running Eagleas ahead 2-0 with the 25-21 win in set two.
• Life U jumped out to an early 10-6 lead in set three after a kill from Mann. Shawnee State brought the set to within one, 17-18, but the Running Eagles continued to serve and attack well as Ferran recorded the final kill for the 25-20 set win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Life U led Shawnee State in kills 41-28. Life U finished with a hitting percentage of .198 as Shawnee State finished with a .120.
• Life U led Shawnee State in aces 9-2.
• Life U led Shawnee State in assists 40-25 and in digs 43-27.
