BRUNSWICK, Ga. ---- The Life University men's basketball team came from behind in the second half to overtake Coastal Georgia 67-64 Saturday night in the road victory.
NOTES
• Life U improved to 10-4 on the year, while Coastal Georgia fell to 8-7.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
•
Connor Gamble picked up a team-high 17 points and added four rebounds with two steals.
•
Evan Milligan also finished in double figures with 16 points on seven steals, six rebounds, three assists and two blocks.
•
Jay Jay Simpson was the final Running Eagle to finish in double figures with 16 points as well. He tallied four assists with a steal.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Coastal Georgia held an 11-6 lead through the first six minutes of play, as neither team held a significant lead in the early minutes.
• Coastal Georgia maintained its early lead throughout a majority of the first half, however a late 10-0 Life U run was finished with a layup from Milligan that gave Life U a 33-32 lead with a minute on the clock.
• Coastal Georgia finished the half with a layup in the final three seconds to take a 34-33 lead into the break.
• Coastal Georgia continued to hold a slight lead, despite a short 5-0 run from Life U after a three from Gamble with 14:33 on the clock to tie the game at 45.
• Tied at 62 with three minutes remaining in the game, White connected from deep to give Life U a 65-62 lead seconds later. Simpson finished a pair of free-throws with just over a minute remaining as the Running Eagle defense held strong to secure the 67-64 win for Life U.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Life U finished 22-for-60 from the field, 36.7%, while Coastal Georgia shot 25-for-50, 50%. The Running Eagles finished 7-for-25, 28% from beyond the arc, as Coastal Georgia went 5-for-16, 31.3%.
• Life U held the advantage in the turnover margin over Coastal Georgia 23-11 and converted 18 points off of the turnovers.
• Life U shot 16-for-25, 64%, from the free-throw line as Coastal Georgia finished 9-for-15, 60%.
