Women's Basketball Continues Hot Start with Win over TMC

 
MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The Life University women's basketball team toppled Truett McConnell College 89-58 Monday night at home.  
 
NOTES
• Life U improved to 10-2 on the year, while Truett McConnell fell to 2-10.
• The 10-2 start marks the best record heading into the break in the last decade.
 
STANDOUT PERFORMERS 
Tierra Lindsey picked up 16 points and added five boards with two assists. She shot 8-for-11 from the field.
Shikiya Brown also finished with 16 and picked up three steals, two assists and a rebound.  
Diamond Atkins, Kiana Glenn and Damiya Montgomery each added 10 points as Tshlene Bently tallied a team-high 11 rebounds.  
 
HOW IT HAPPENED 
• Truett McConnell won the opening tip, however Life U never trailed in the game. The Running Eagles finished the first quarter ahead by 10, 18-8.
• Life U maintained its large lead in the second quarter as the Running Eagles went into the half ahead by 19, 43-24.
• Life U led by a minimum 23-points the entire third quarter as the Running Eagles led 67-39.
• At the half, BPC held a six-point lead, 31-25, over Life U.
• Life U led by thirty on multiple occasions in the final ten minute quarter, as the Running Eagles finished the game ahead by 31, 89-58, which ended the game and was the final score                                                                     . 
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Life U finished 22-for-57 from the field, 38.6%, while Truett McConnel shot 34-for-68, 50%.
• Life U shot 11-for-18, 61.1%, from the free-throw line as Truett McConnell finished 16-for-23, 69.6%. 
• Life U led Truett McConnell to 29 turnovers and scored 37 off the turnovers.
 
UP NEXT 
• The women's basketball team will return to action on Saturday, January 5 as the team begins Mid-South Conference play and hosts the University of the Cumberlands at home.
