MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The Life University women's volleyball team won its first Mid-South Conference game of the year over Cumberland University 3-1 Saturday afternoon.
NOTES
• Life U improved to 6-13 (1-1) while Cumberland fell to 2-7 (0-2)
STANDOUT PERFORMERS

Liz Mann earned a double-double on a team-high 14 kills with 15 digs. She also served five aces in the match.
•
Mary Zimmerman added eight kills with eight block assists, as
Chelsea Hill also finished with eight kills and tallied six block assists.
•
Marin Black picked up 15 digs defensively as
Taylor Parrish totaled 38 assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Cumberland led 12-6 early in set one, but an 8-1 run was finished with a kill from Mann to put the Running Eagles ahead 14-13. Cumberland used a late 5-1 run to lead 22-18, and finished the set with a 25-21 win over Life U.
• In set number two, Cumberland led 14-11, however Life U used an 11-3 run that included three blocks to take a 22-17 lead. Ferran and Dorland picked up the final kills for the Running Eagles as they took set two 25-20.
• Cumberland again led early in set three 9-7, however four aces from Mann led an explosive 12-0 run for Life U as they led 19-9. Life U ended the third set on a 6-1 run to win 25-13.
• Life U led 8-3 early in set four as Cumberland brought the set to within one, 8-7, after a 4-0 run. The Running Eagles used a 9-2 run to take a commanding 18-9 lead. A 4-1 Life U run finished the match as Mann tallied the final two kills for a 25-14 final in set four, which gave the Running Eagles their first Mid-South win at home.

• Life U led Cumberland in kills 44-40. Life U had a hitting percentage of .194 and Cumberland finished with a .049.
• Life U committed only 19 errors to the 33 from Cumberland.
• Life U held a staggering 14-4 advantage in blocks over Cumberland.

• The women's volleyball team will return to action on Thursday, September 20 as they travel to Campbellsville, Ky. to face Campbellsville University in a Mid-South Conference matchup.
