MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The Life University men's soccer team fell to Bryan College at home Tuesday night 3-1.
NOTES
• Life U fell to 2-6-1 on the year, while Bryan improved to 2-3-2.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
•
Jerry Avellandeda scored the lone goal for the Running Eagles with his only shot of the match. It was also his first goal of the season.
•
Thierry Jules finished with six shots and three on frame with an assist as
Ahmad Saidy also assisted the goal.
•
Steinar Magnusson added two shots on frame.
• Charlie Clarke, Artur Dombrowski and Jonathan Ricketts scored for Bryan.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Three minutes into the match, Bryan scored on a cross from the left side of the box off of the foot of Ricketts. Clarke met the ball in the air for the volley goal to give the Lions a 1-0 lead.
• Bryan added its second goal of the match in the 23
rdminute of the match on a corner kick. Spooner swung in the ball from the left corner and found Dombrowski to give the Lions a 2-0 advantage.
• Five minutes before halftime, Life U scored its lone goal of the match. Saidy swung a ball inside the 18 as Jules flicked the ball on for Avellandeda to finish into the back of the net. The Running Eagles trailed 2-1 at the half.
• In the 68
thminute of the match, a defensive breakdown from Life U let Clarke loose down the field. A through ball left Ricketts one-on-one with the keeper as he found the back of the net to put the Lions ahead 3-1.
• Life U had four solid chances after the goal that were on frame, however they were unable to find any additional goals. Bryan took the 3-1 win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Life U outshot Bryan 15-13 during the match, however the Lions held the advantage in shots on frame over the Running Eagles 8-7.
• Bryan held the advantage in corner kicks over Life U 7-0.
• Life U outshot Bryan in the first half 7-6.
