MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The Life University men's soccer team defeated Middle Georgia State University 4-2 at home Friday night.
NOTES
• Life U improved to 3-6-1 on the year, while Middle Georgia fell to 1-6-1.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
•
Thierry Jules scored his team-high fourth goal of the year and added an assist.
•
Javi Romero also scored a goal with an assist in the match.
•
Jacob Bivens and
Martin Cortes each added their first goals of the season as well.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Seven minutes into the match, Life U scored as Romero beat the Middle Georgia keeper to put the Running Eagles ahead 1-0.
• Middle Georgia tied the match at one in the 21
stminute of the match as Crawley found the back of the net with the assist from Jacques.
• Jules gave the Running Eagles the lead in the 22
ndminute on a cross from Romero as the header put Life U ahead 2-1.
• Life U scored again in the 29
thminute as Cortes struck a free-kick from just outside the 18 into the upper right corner for a 3-1 Running Eagle lead. Life U took the lead into the half.
• Life U scored its fourth goal of the match in the 61
stminute of the match on a give-and-go from Bivens to Jules that was lofted into the box as Bivens finished the header into the back of the net for a 4-1 Running Eagle lead.
• A defensive miscue by Life U allowed Crawley to score the second goal for the Knights. Life U still held a 4-2 advantage as the Running Eagles held on for the home victory.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Life U outshot Middle Georgia 18-11 during the match. The Running Eagles also held the advantage in shots on frame over the Knights 9-5.
• Both teams finished with three corner kicks.
• Life U outshot Middle Georgia in the first half 12-6.
